“The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.”
In the novel “Diggers”, written by Terry Pratchett (1990)
This time I will not talk about AI, but NI (Natural Intelligence). Natural Intelligence refers to “the flexible ability possessed by animals, including humans, to achieve a variety of goals in different contexts based on their rich and varied stream of experiences in the natural world”. So, not talking about computers today.
In this context, the “Thoughtverse” is part of such NI, at least for humans (I don’t know about dogs and other animals that the people argue are intelligent). I understand that the word exists, but I didn’t like the definition from Gemini or Perplexity, so let’s try to create one based on what I’m trying to express: “the collection of thoughts, beliefs, creations, reflections, inferences, conclusions, perceptions and in general, the individual’s thoughts ecosystem that make who you are”. You may try to refine it in the comments, if you feel you can teach me a better one.
Given such background, what I’m trying to say is that everybody is looking for real estate in your Thoughtverse, in order to convince you economically, politically or in any other aspect, to get a profit. In this world of infoxication, we are bombarded with thoughts and, in some cases, they have success. Given that we have between 6,000 to 60,000 thoughts, it is tempting to grab part of it (this time Gemini helped with the number, yay!). Also, you may argue that I’m trying to do exactly that now, and you may be right ;).
So, my ask to you is: protect your Thoughtverse! Of course, it does not mean that you will become now a fundamentalist, but be critic about what you accept or not in order to fulfill your goals and become a better YOU.
What can we do to protect our Thoughtverse?:
- Be clear about what you are and what you want to become. Make it resonate with your purpose.
- Be critic about what you perceive from reality. Question what they are saying or showing, and decide if it is good for you or not. Use critic thinking to do that.
- If yes, build a city around the real estate conquered by the new accepted ideas (or ideas you created). If not, trash them, without mercy.
I’m re-reading this article, and it sounds a little bit philosofical, but who cares! That’s where my Thoughtverse led me this time…My post content
